Rob is an information-sharer. He does not believe that his status or job security is dependent on hoarding his knowledge. Quite the opposite. He has a passion for teaching others about user experience principles and methodologies.
Experience is often considered the product. If given a choice, customers will choose a competitor, if the product has the same features but a better user experience. But how do we create these experiences? It is important that an organization buys into "UX" - this often means teaching various stakeholders of the benefits and methods.
Rob has trained people in-person and asynchronously by developing a "certification course" of sorts. The benefit of the online course has been the ability to train many people at a time that is convenient for them.
If company stakeholders gain empathy for end-users and take the time to conduct appropriate research and understanding into the defined problem, then it becomes easier to identify a shared solution.
